GSK HEALTHCARE SCHEME FOR RETIREES
Association members who are also members of the GSK
Healthcare Scheme (originally with BUPA and now with CIGNA)
will probably have been paying or expecting to pay tax on the
cover provided by the Company following the news that this is
to be a Benefit of Kind.  It has now emerged that this taxation
DOES NOT APPLY TO THOSE WHO RETIRED PRIOR TO 6th
APRIL 1998.
Pre April 1998 retirees will shortly (subject to Royal Mail) receive
letters from CIGNA advising them of the cancellation of this tax
liability in their case.
Those in this group who have already made some tax payments
for this reason should contact their Tax Office and seek repayment.
The Tax Offices have been advised of those members with pre April
1998 retirement dates.

DEALING WITH HEWITT ASSOCIATES.  A few cases of
unsatisfactory performance reported to the Association have
been followed up, and as a result it is hoped to see
improvements at Hewitt in the near future.  However,
maintaining a good performance by Hewitt needs members to
let the Association know of their experiences with Hewitt,
good and bad.
HEWITT has a NEW Contact Person and  Phone
Number for dissatisfied pensioners, for which see the
Communucations Page.
KEEP THE ASSOCIATION INFORMED.

- We hope that current members of the Association will find
useful information and news on our website.  Please send the
Association, your views on pension issues and your experiences
in dealing with GSK on pension matters, and any questions
arising from your membership of the GSK Pension Fund
by
Emailing wellcomepensioners@wellcomepensioners.org .

Our strength and influence comes from our growing numbers,
so we urge all present members of the Association to seek
new members from ex-Wellcome friends and acquaintances.

- We urge all GSK Pension Fund members who are not members
of this Association, to join us by completing the membership
application form on the website and sending it to the address
given on the form.  Those eligible to join are EMPLOYEE,
DEFERRED
or PENSIONER MEMBERS of the GLAXOSMITHKLINE
PENSION FUND formerly the WELLCOME GROUP PENSION FUND
(also formerly the Glaxo Wellcome Pension Fund, which name
currently appears on pensioners' pay slips).

Together we will ensure that our interests are protected and the
strength and resources of our pension fund are devoted to
benefit we who paid into it - the
Wellcome Pensioners.
